Yappy Bird

In this pair project, we developed a voice-controlled Flappy Bird inspired game using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Instead of tapping, players produce sounds, like claps or whistles, to make the bird flap, creating a unique and engaging interaction.

We designed pixelated visuals similar to the original game to leverage affordances and recognition, making it instantly familiar. To enhance discoverability, we ensured real-time feedback through visual and audio cues, reinforcing the connection between input and action.

Feel free to click the button below to try the game, it’s far from perfect but a fun student project. Remember to press allow for your microphone before beginning and a tip is to clap or make short burst sounds. Longer sounds usually makes yappy go straight up!
